Magaliesburg

Gecko and Agama cottages at Dream Lodge are meant for any two people who would like to spend some quality time together.  It is an opportunity to discover yourself and your partner at a deeper level, with the service and privacy directed towards that goal.   This is the ideal place to bring down those city stress levels.

Chameleon House can accommodate up to 5 persons.  The perfect spot to build those life long bonds with your kids and remember what family is all about, but still cosy enough for two. 

What is it?

The Dream Lodge consists of three cottages named Gecko, Agama and Chameleon House.

Gecko is surrounded by acacia bush and has a truly magical atmosphere.  It can be reached by most sedan vehicles.

Agama is on a hilltop with a magnificent view of the Magaliesberg Mountains, but can only be reached by 4x4 or high clearance vehicle.  Guests can leave their cars at the main house, and be taken to Agama by 4x4 if they prefer.

Chameleon House is 300m from the main house and  has a panoramic view over farmland. Chameleon can be reached by a normal car. 

No cottage has electricity.  Gecko has a gas geyser and fireplace and Agama has solar heated water and a wood-burning fireplace. Chameleon House has a woodburning stove/oven, gas hob, gas fridge, braai facilities, solar water heating and solar lights.

There is a swimming pool at the main house which guests are invited to use.

The cottages are each at least 1km apart, so privacy is guaranteed.

Gecko Cottage

Gecko Cottage is the original Dream Lodge cottage. It is surrounded by acacia bush and grassland, has a built in fireplace, a charming Victorian bath and a Bokmakierie that might knock on your window in the morning. This cottage has a truly magical atmosphere and can be reached by most vehicles. Do remember that we are 3km from the tar road however.

The outside couch is ideal for lazy sundowners or simply reading a book in peace. Find the small labyrinth just down the hill, or sit by the outside fire till late at night. An exercise in tranquility if ever there was one.

Agama Cottage

Agama Cottage is situated on a hilltop with a magnificent view of the Magalies Mountains and Naauwkloof. The inside has wooden floors, a huge bath with a view and a built in fireplace with couch.

Lounge around outside with a book while listening to the larks, hunt for the Ba-Tswana ruins at the nearby kloof, or fly a kite when the wind comes up. The ideal place to reconnect with your soul mate and breathe a sigh of contentment.

Agama cottage can only be reached by high clearance vehicle, but guests are welcome to leave their own vehicles at Broken Hill Farmhouse and be delivered to the cottage, or to walk the 1.6km's.

Chameleon House

Chameleon House is situated 300m from the main farmhouse.  It has a magnificent, panoramic view of farmland and a huge boma for bonfires.  

The feeling of the cottage is distinctly old fashioned, and has a peaceful charm all of its own.  The main cottage has one double bedroom, a kitchen/dining area and bathroom.  There is another bedroom adjoining with an adult size bunk bed, a single bed, and is ideal for children.

For those who want to cook for themselves, this cottage can be self catering.  Try your hand at baking bread in our wood-burning stove, or have a leisurely braai.  The cottage is equipped with a gas-fridge, solar water heating and solar lighting. 

If you'd like us to cater for you, please arrange with Sam.  We have a very adaptable menu and can even cater for braai's if you want.  As we say under the menu section, we cater for Halaal, vegetarian and vegan tastes as well.

The cottage is serviced only on request at an extra cost of R50.00 per occasion.

Menu

The Dream Lodge caters for most preferences, including vegetarian, vegan or Halaal.

We usually serve either a chicken or prawn main course with veg and fruit adjusted to suit the seasons. Please discuss your preferences with Sam.

Chameleon House can be either self-catering, or catered.  Please feel free to tell Sam which meals you'd like and a menu can be created for you.

Where?

The Dream Lodge is 17km's out of the town of Magaliesburg.  About and hour from both Johannesburg and Pretoria and 30 minutes from Rustenburg.

Take the R509 out of Magaliesburg for 17km's and then the turnoff marked Wind in the Willows. It is 3km from the dirt road to the first cottage.

Take every right turn you can and PLEASE call Sam for specific directions and to let her know of your presence. 082 620 6369.

When?

There is no time like the present! Dream Lodge is available all year round with the menu slightly adjusted to suit the seasons.

It is advisable however to book a few weeks in advance to avoid disappointment, but take a chance, you never know…
